Children’s Chrome Book Procedures
Check Out:
ü Only children or an adult with a child are permitted to borrow the Chrome Book in the Children’s Room (please send adults to the Reference Desk to borrow a Chrome Book)
ü Take the customer’s library card – adults MUST present their library card and photo ID
ü If the borrower is a Juvenile customer who does not have a card or ID, you may check out a Chrome Book to them if the customer is familiar to you
ü Take the Chrome Book out of the bottom file drawer to your left, make sure it is charged
ü Open the Chrome Book log, enter the customer’s name, library barcode, ID information, and time of check out
ü Explain that the loan period is two hours (can be renewed if nobody is waiting) and there is a fine if you return it late. Inform the customer that the Chrome Book will only work inside the building – it becomes deactivated when not used inside the library
ü Check the Chrome Book out to the customer in Horizon
ü Show the customer how to browse as a Guest
Check In:
ü Check in the Chrome Book via Horizon
ü Check the battery level and charge if necessary (inside the file drawer)
ü Enter the return time in the Chrome Book log
Other:
ü At opening time, ensure that the Chrome Book is charged
ü At closing time, unplug the Chrome Book and put it away in the drawer
ü If a Chrome Book is not returned and you can’t find the customer who checked it out, call Su, Eulas or Didier to disable the Chrome Book. If none of them are here, call Su (880-0088) or Eulas (201-275-8375)
ü To disable the Chrome Book, follow these steps
- Log in to Google as This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The password is Na__to24! (fill in the two missing letters according to Eulas’ reading preferences).
- Click on the Apps icon then click ‘More.’
- Click on the Admin Console icon
- Click on Device Management
- Select the Chrome Book you want to disable
- Click on More Actions to disable the Chrome Book
