Exhibit: Whitesbog, Birthplace of the Blueberry Willingboro Environmental Commission sponsors an exhibit on Elizabeth White, a pioneering woman scientist, and her farm Whitesbog, the Burlington County birthplace of the cultivated blueberry. Now a public park, Whitesbog educates the public on the history and ecology of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Exhibit Displayed: Mar. 3-26. Meet the Exhibitors: Sat., Mar. 6, 2 p.m. Refreshments served.
Program: Discussion with Gloria Harbin, author of 30¢ and a Prayer Day, Date & Time: Wed., Mar. 17, 7 p.m. Registration: Begins Mar. 3 Local author Gloria Harbin will discuss her latest book 30¢ and a Prayer. This book is the true-life story of Lavonia Harlow, who broke free from a physically-abusive marriage to become an ordained minister. A copy of Mrs. Harbin's book will be raffled at this event. Light refreshments will also be served.
Program: Women of the 1960s Day, Date & Time: Sat., Mar. 20, 2:30 p.m. Registration: Begins Mar. 6 In honor of Women's History Month and the Willingboro Public Library 50th Anniversary, Willingboro's own Alma Day will portray some of the strong, beautiful women of the 1960s, including Jackie Kennedy and Fannie Lou Hamer. You will be inspired by a generation of women who blazed a path for the women and girls of today.
Program: Women Shaping their World Date & Time: Wed., Mar. 24, 7 p.m. Registration: Begins Mar. 10 Theresa Daniel, senior adjunct professor at Burlington County College and member of the Professional Women's Network, will discuss contemporary women in different professional capacities from different ethnicity that have made a difference in their world. Light refreshments will be served.
